Dr. Stavan Patel is a board-certified Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeon and a Diplomate of the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons. He practices the full scope of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery and has expertise in various areas of the field.
Dr. Patel completed his undergraduate degree from Cornell University and his Dental School at Columbia University College of Dental Medicine in New York City. Following Dental School, he obtained his Medical Degree from the Louisiana State University School of Medicine and completed a General Surgery internship and an Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery residency at the Louisiana State University Health Science Center in Shreveport, Louisiana. He then furthered his education and expertise by completing Fellowships in Head and Neck Oncologic Surgery, Microvascular Reconstructive Surgery, and Pediatric Cleft and Craniofacial Surgery.
Dr. Patel's clinical practice and interests include reconstructive craniomaxillofacial/head and neck surgery, oncologic surgery, cleft surgery, orthognathic surgery, sleep apnea surgery, and TMJ surgery. He is also well-versed in managing various types of Pathology/Infection cases, such as Head and neck cancer, face, jaw, and oral pathology, neck masses, thyroid and parathyroid pathology, benign and malignant skin lesions, parotid and salivary gland pathology, TMJ derangement and dysfunction, dental, jaw, face, neck infections, and osteomyelitis, obstructive sleep apnea, and snoring. He is also skilled in Nasal and paranasal sinus surgery, tracheostomy, and management of complex airway cases.
Dr. Patel is passionate about his work and has a particular interest in humanitarian outreach. He has given numerous presentations nationally and internationally at various conferences, and his most recent publications encompass cranio-maxillo-facial reconstruction, head and neck oncology, vascularized free tissue transfer, bone grafting of the craniofacial skeleton, and cleft lip and palate.
